London [UK], June 5 (ANI): Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton, has opened up about the emotional toll her cancer diagnosis and treatment had on her family, saying the experience was just as difficult for her loved ones as it was for her, according to E! News.
More than a year after announcing that her cancer was in remission, Kate Middleton reflected on the challenges faced by her husband, Prince William, their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, as well as her parents during her health battle.
During a recent visit with a cancer patient celebrating the end of treatment, Kate shared her thoughts on the wider impact of the illness on families.
'I know it's as hard for the family and loved ones,' Kate said in a video. 'I know how hard it was for the children and my parents.'
Speaking to the patient's partner, she added, 'You go through it with them.'
Kate, who publicly revealed her cancer diagnosis in March 2024, has previously spoken about how the journey affected her family's life. After completing chemotherapy in 2025, she described the experience as one that changed her perspective on life, according to E! News.
'The cancer journey is complex, scary and unpredictable for everyone, especially those closest to you,' Kate said in a social media video at the time.
'With humility, it also brings you face to face with your own vulnerabilities in a way you have never considered before, and with that, a new perspective on everything,' she added, according to E! News.
The Princess of Wales said the experience reminded her family to appreciate life's most meaningful moments.
'Be grateful for the simple yet important things in life, which so many of us often take for granted. Of simply loving and being loved,' she said, according to E! News.
Prince William also addressed the impact of the family's health challenges following Kate's treatment. His father, King Charles III, had announced his own cancer diagnosis a month before Kate shared hers.
Speaking during an appearance on 'The Reluctant Traveler' in October 2025, William said their children had been adapting to the situation.
'We try to make sure we give them the security and the safety that they need,' William said. 'And we're a very open family, so we talk about the things that bother us, the things that trouble us. But you never quite know the knock-on effects it can have.'
He stressed the importance of supporting one another through difficult times, according to E! News.
'It's just important to be there for each other,' William said, 'and reassure the children that everything is okay.'
Now in remission, Kate has received praise from her husband for the way she navigated the challenging period.
'She's been amazing,' William said during an appearance on Heart Breakfast last month. 'She's been through so much in the last couple of years, particularly. And she's been looking forward to the Italian trip a lot and so I'm really glad it went really well.'
He added, 'I'm very, very proud' of her recovery and resilience throughout the journey, according to E! News. (ANI)
