The home of former NASCAR driver Greg Biffle and his family was burglarized last week, three weeks after Biffle, his wife, two children and three others were killed in a plane crash.
According to multiple outlets, the Iredell County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to the house in Mooresville, N.C., on Jan. 8. When deputies arrived, they found forcible entry had been made and several items missing. Among them were $30,000 in cash, a backpack, guns and memorabilia. According to Fox News, investigators believe somebody entered a safe in the house.
Biffle, 55, along with his wife, Cristina; daughter, Emma; son, Ryder; Dennis Dutton and his son, Jack; and Craig Wadsworth, were killed Dec. 18 as the private plane they were in crashed on approach at an airport in Statesville, N.C.
The plane reportedly traveled about five miles before turning back toward the airport, but the reason is unclear.
Named one of NASCAR's 75 Greatest Drivers in 2023, Biffle won 19 times in the NASCAR Cup Series and won season championships in the Craftsman Truck Series (2000) and O'Reilly Auto Parts Series (2002).
The victims of the crash will be honored at a public memorial Friday in Charlotte, N.C.
The service will begin at 11 a.m. ET at the Bojangles Coliseum and will be live-streamed on NASCAR.com, The NASCAR Channel, Facebook and YouTube.
