Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], October 27 (ANI): Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Monday said that India's maritime sector has witnessed major growth under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership.
Fadnavis highlighted the government's Maritime Vision 2030 and Amrit Kaal Maritime Vision, which aim to attract large investments and boost the maritime industry.
Speaking to the reporters on India Maritime Week 2025, Devendra Fadnavis said, 'It is absolutely possible because all of us know that the way in which this entire maritime business has expanded in our country after our Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken over.'
He added that Maharashtra is working to become a leading destination for shipbuilding.
'His time maritime vision 2030 and Amrutkal Maritime vision envisage huge investments and strides in the space of maritime business. I am very hopeful that this is possible, and from Maharashtra's standpoint, we want to make Maharashtra a destination for shipbuilding, and we want to be the first to accomplish the dream of our Prime Minister,' he said.
Earlier in the day, Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah inaugurated the 'India Maritime Week - 2025' in Mumbai, Maharashtra.
On this occasion, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar, and Union Minister for Ports, Shipping, and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal, along with many other distinguished dignitaries, were present.
In his address, Shah stated that Mumbai is home to the world-famous Gateway of India. He said this is India's Maritime Moment, transforming the Gateway of India into the Gateway of the World.
He said that over the past decade, Maritime Summits have proven that, based on the deep structural reforms implemented in the Maritime Economy, India has emerged as a powerful force and stands with full strength on the global maritime map.
The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW) is hosting the India Maritime Week 2025 (IMW 2025) from October 27 to 31 at NESCO Grounds, Mumbai. (ANI)
