New Delhi [India], March 27 (ANI): Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Thursday took a sharp dig at her critics, asserting that their dissatisfaction stems from her adopting their own tone.
'(Bahut khafa hai mere lehza badlne se, jab unhi ke lehze me baat ki ) They are very upset that my tone has changed, but I only started speaking in their tone. It is not in their fate to sit on the ruling side,' she said, addressing the ongoing political slugfest over the recently presented Delhi budget.
Gupta accused the opposition of relentlessly finding faults despite what she described as a 'big and substantial' budget for the national capital.
'Such a big budget came for Delhi, yet they left no stone unturned in finding faults. On Twitter and in the media, they are claiming that Delhi is being ruined. If a good and substantial budget has been presented, it should be a reason for happiness. Everything will be clear in a few days,' she said.
She further hinted at reducing dependency on central assistance, adding, 'It is possible that there may be no need for central assistance. If the leakage they have caused is stopped, then things can be managed.
The remarks come amid sloganeering of AAP of 'Chori Bandh' echoed in the session as they demanded transparency and accountability in the financial allocations.
The Party leaders of opposition raised concerns over the allocation of funds, claiming that while funds were marked on paper, there was no actual budget available.
On Wednesday, Leader of the Opposition in the Delhi Legislative Assembly Atishi questioned the Bharatiya Janata Party for not having a discussion on the budget on Wednesday and said that she has written to Speaker Vijender Gupta and demanded at least two days for discussions on the budget.
'The budget session is to present budget and hold a discussion on budget, but yesterday, when the list of business for today came, only one hour was allotted for discussion on budget...I want to ask the BJP, what are you hiding? Why don't you want a discussion on budget?... This clearly shows there is something wrong. I have written to Speaker Vijender Gupta and demanded at least two days for discussions on the budget,' Atishi told ANI. (ANI)
