Epidemiologists agree: the coronavirus pandemic, though in decline, has not yet ended.
As demonstrated by the spring isolation period, business needs to carefully prepare for new challenges and new realities. After all, in the process of modifying the labor format, the risks of information leakage are seriously increasing: chaotic changes in the structure of the company will certainly use all kinds of malefactors. Therefore, the issue of competent reorganization of work taking into account the transfer of the maximum number of personnel "to the remote location" is more relevant than ever but so as employee attendance control.
It is important for managers not only to "evict" a part of employees from the office, but also to retain, and it is desirable to increase "prequarantine" indicators of efficiency, while maintaining control over the personnel activity.
The key danger of any mass phenomenon is that it hits all participants of the process at once, which means that it will not be possible to sit quietly on the sidelines. Business can be compared with a mechanism where each gear has its own function, directly affecting the overall performance of the system. And it is not only about the internal processes taking place in the company, but also about external ones. No matter how well you are prepared for quarantine, among your suppliers, partners or service providers there is always someone who has made it worse. The result of neglect of new quarantine restrictions can be: delays in payment of bills, late fulfillment of obligations, malfunctions in the digital infrastructure and so on. Each of these items is a financial loss. There are only two options left: either to accept and bear losses, or to try to minimize them with your resources.
In practice, this means the following: at any unexpected moment, the management will have to shift a part of its human resources to solve tasks that are not typical for them. For example, additional efforts of the IT-department may be needed to eliminate failures in work. Even if contractors have done it well before, there is a possibility that in the conditions of a pandemic their work will increase, therefore, the time to solve the problem will increase.
An unpleasant surprise can be presented by any side of the process. The accountant of the partners will suddenly fall ill, the distributor's manager will be out of touch or will go to sleep breathing the air of freedom. The disorganization of processes and the chaos around them will add problems, but they can be solved in time by connecting your "backup" staff. And at this step it is important to understand: does the company have free resources at all?
A system administrator, immersed in reworking, simply can't take on even more responsibilities caused by a sudden emergency. And even a decline in the labor market will not stop an eternally processing employee from quitting. At the same time part of the staff can work only 30% of the paid time, spending the rest of the working day watching movies and videos on YouTube.
Evaluation of current labor efficiency, personnel management and risk management will help to identify strengths and weaknesses of the business, identify areas of development and find additional resources that will be useful in an emergency situation.
The main thing is not to forget that managerial decisions should be based on objective data. They are the most valuable in the scenarios of remote labor organization and reorganization of activities. Without information unclouded by human stereotypes and prejudices, management will not be able to assess the performance of employees to determine the factors affecting productivity, as well as to audit business processes.
Integrated approach using modern systems of information collection will allow management to assess the actual situation, to analyze the discipline and workload of staff, to find "dead" and inefficient processes, to rethink and improve KPI. And the main thing is to form a strategic resource for solving emergency tasks in case of emergency, avoiding asymmetrical workload of employees, preventing systematic processing, reducing loyalty and burnout.
Labor monitoring complexes allow not only to implement risk management on a permanent basis and prepare for any challenges of the modern world, but also significantly reduce the staff turnover, which, in a crisis situation, may turn out to be fatal for the business. Constant automatic analysis of personnel actions will help to avoid unnecessary rework and, as a "magic button", will prepare a roadmap of available resources and possible scenarios of actions in emergency situations.
