ANGELES CITY, Nov. 26 (PIA) -- Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) donated PhP50 million to City College of Angeles (CCA) for the construction of additional facilities.
Mayor Carmelo Lazatin Jr. said this will help ensure that CCA can properly accommodate scholars upon the resumption of face-to-face classes.
"One of the programs my administration is focusing on the continuous promotion of education. We are trying to ensure that despite the pandemic, the implementation of educational programs, including the renovation and construction of classrooms, will continue," Lazatin said.
CCA Vice President for Administration and Quality Assurance Dr. Carolina Sarmiento said the donation will be used for the construction of 10 classrooms and two computer laboratories.
For her part, Chief Adviser and Tactician Director IC Calaguas said that although the city faces many challenges today, the city government is ready to help students, especially its city scholars.
"We want the CCA to have a good capacity, with the help of funds provided by PAGCOR to the city government. This is in line with our vision of 'no Angeleno children left behind'," Calaguas said.
It can be recalled that the city government earlier purchased tablets for CCA students to be used in their online classes.
Despite the pandemic, enrollment rate at CCA increased from 2,481 students last academic year to 3,341 students this year.
The said donation of PAGCOR is part of their various Corporate Social Responsibility projects, including the School Building Program, Christmas gift-giving for indigent beneficiaries, relief operations for calamity victims, and donation of computers and television sets to public schools.
