NAGA CITY, Nov. 23 (PIA) -Amid the challenges on public health brought by the COVID-19 pandemic, this city government thru the Naga City Council for the Welfare and Protection of Children (NCCWPC) is slated to conduct the 28th Children's Month Celebration with a series of online activities.
City Councilor and NCCWPC Co-Chairman Elmer Baldemoro said that despite the pandemic, the celebration of Children's Month continues.
"Padagos man giraray ang satuyang ginigibo pati ang mga Barangay Council for the Welfare of Children na mahiling si kamugtakan kan mga aki ta ngonian namamatean ninda ang epekto kan pandemya." (We continue what we are doing, together with the Barangay Council for the Welfare of Children, to look into the wellbeing of the children now that they can feel the effects of the pandemic.)
With this year's theme: "Sama-samang Itaguyod ang Karapatan ng Bawat Bata sa Panahon ng Pandemya," all the activities will be live streamed on NCCWPC Facebook page and will be shared to other LGU-Naga FB accounts, such as the City Government of Naga, etc.
The first activity, the Children's Congress was held Nov. 21. Topics discussed include Proper Hygiene and Nutrition in time of Pandemic with Ms. Celeste R. Joson, City Nutrition & Population Officer as the speaker and Catering the Mental Health Needs of Children in the time of Pandemic with Bantay Familia Resident Psychologist Dr. Gayle Abonal-Gomez, as speaker.
On Nov. 27, City Mayor Nelson Legacion will deliver the State of the Children's Report. The report is expected to include the activities and accomplishments on the programs of the City for the children.
The activity will also include the virtual awarding ceremony for the Most-Friendly Barangays. There will be three barangays that will be recognized with corresponding cash prizes for each of the winner.
The third activity is the Educare Got Talent 8 to be slated on Dec. 4 from 1pm-5pm.
Educare Got Talent 8 pursues to promote children's artistry by showcasing their respective talents through online platform. Children coming from different barangays within the City of Naga will compete with each other to showcase their knowledge, skills, and talents on various creative arts.
Due to gathering constraints brought by the pandemic, this year, the activity will commence online. Participants will be asked to submit pre-recorded copy of their entries.
To get updates on the event, Baldemoro enjoins everyone to Like the Naga City Council for the Welfare and Protection of Children on Facebook.
He further calls on parents to guide their children because the situation now is new to them, and their guidance and understanding are what they need the most. (JRM-PIAV/Camarines Sur)
