BALANGA CITY, Aug.7 (PIA) -- Department of Education (DepEd) Bataan received full support from local government units (LGUs) on its shift to distance learning for school year 2020-2021.
DepEd Bataan Assistant Schools Division Superintendent William Roderick Fallorin disclosed that over PhP200 million worth of resources were pledged by the LGUs as support for their Learning Continuity Plan.
"Some of the towns are now providing us photocopying machines, risograph and other equipment needed for printing of our learning modules," he disclosed in a virtual presser.
He also revealed that as support for their online learning teaching modality, teachers in some towns were provided with one laptop each, including in the municipality of Limay wherein 650 units were distributed last July 13.
In a statement, Mayor Nelson David said they will also provide wireless local area network connections for internet connectivity in all barangays in the town which will benefit both teachers and students without limitations of use and fees.
"Aside from the laptops and internet connection, the construction, renovation and repainting of buildings in various schools of Limay were given priority as well. This is also a part of a long-term plan to minimize the number of pupils/students inside each classroom," David furthered.
In June, a total of 80 units of 32-inch LED television were distributed to public schools in Samal town as one of the commitments of Mayor Aida Macalinao to support teachers in the municipality.
Moreover, Governor Albert Raymond Garcia already expressed that the provincial government is ready respond to the needs of the students and teachers in the province.
As of August 4, enrollment in public schools in the 11 towns of Bataan has reached 98 percent of last year's total enrollment data while 40 percent in private institutions.
Overall, there are 164 public elementary schools, 45 public junior high schools and 35 public senior high schools in Bataan, excluding Balanga City. Public schools will continue to accept late enrollees even during the opening of classes on August 24. (CLJD/MJSD-PIA 3)
