CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela, July 15 (PIA) - Before the opening of classes on August 24, the Department of Education (DepEd) Schools Division Office in this province is set to pilot test its one learning modalities using television.
OIC Schools Division Superintendent Madelyn Macalling said the learning modality using television dubbed as "TV-Eskwela" aimed to educate the schoolers thru airing recorded lessons via TV.
The 'TV Eskwela' which will be piloted in Luna, Isabela from July 20 to 24, is one of the alternative learning delivery modalities to be offered by the SDO.
The local government unit of Luna has provided free cable and internet services, televisions, smart phones and tablet to each barangay in the locality.
Hon. Jaime Atayde, mayor said the local cable service provider has provided two channels, each channel is intended for elementary and secondary schoolers.
"This year, the town shifts gears as it maximizes talents for the TV-Eskwela sa Isabela. It is part of Project AKBAY-ARAL DITO, a flagship project of SDO-Isabela in partnership with the Provincial Government of Isabela and LGUs on the continuity of education amid health crisis," Macalling said.
As part of the preparation, teachers were oriented via webinar about the project and selected teachers were tapped as talents for the recorded clips to be aired.
Earlier, in support to 'Project AKBAY-ARAL DITO', the 34 municipalities and the provincial government of Isabela have allotted funds for the reproduction of self-learning modules and learning activity sheets, subscription to cable channels and time slots in local radio stations, purchase of radios and TVs for priority schools, and procurement of tablets and laptops to be given to learners with limited technology at home.
Macalling expressed thanks to all the LGUs especially to the provincial government through the leadership of Gov. Rodito T. Albano for the support to the Basic Education Learning Continuity Plan (BE-LCP) of the division. (MDCT/MGE/PIA 2-Isabela)
